Using the in-app AI assistant (the lightning bolt)
Lido has an AI assistant built into every spreadsheet. It is the fastest way to fix extraction instructions, debug results, and build workflows.
Where it is
Open any Lido sheet and click the lightning bolt icon in the row of icons at the top middle of the screen (hover the icons to see labels). It is not the "AI Column" button - the assistant is the lightning bolt.
What it can do
- Write and refine Extra Instructions for your extraction ("the dates are coming out wrong - fix my instructions")
- Diagnose missing or incorrect rows against your actual document
- Build and debug workflows step by step
- Help with formulas, formatting, and restructuring extracted data
It has context on your sheet, so describe the symptom specifically: "Column C drops leading zeros" works better than "it's broken".
Good to know
- The assistant edits your sheet and workflows directly. For big changes, duplicate the file first (File -> Make a copy) so you can compare.
- Very long instruction sets can cause errors (for example a network error) - shorten or split instructions if that happens.
- If clicking the lightning bolt does nothing, refresh the page and try again.
- If the assistant shows a technical error message (mentioning "tool", "input should be an object", or similar), refresh and retry, then report it in chat - that is a bug on our side, not something you did.
When to use chat support instead
Account, billing, and password issues are handled in this chat / by email (the assistant only works inside your sheet). For extraction problems, try the assistant first - then chat with your sheet URL and a screenshot if it does not get you there.
